GoodVat vs Anrok for Cross-Border Sellers 2026

Anrok is built for SaaS. It integrates with subscription billing systems (Stripe Billing, Chargebee, Recurly, Zuora), knows how software is taxed in each US state, and collects the location evidence the EU requires for digital services. It doesn’t handle physical goods and doesn’t file returns.

GoodVat covers physical goods, digital products and SaaS across stores, marketplaces and payment processors, and it files returns. If you run a pure SaaS business on Chargebee or Zuora, Anrok is probably the closer fit. If you sell anything physical, or want your returns filed for you, GoodVat is.

GoodVat: Files local returns, including UK VAT through MTD, as well as US sales tax and GST returns.

Anrok: Doesn’t file. It produces reports and syncs to NetSuite or QuickBooks, and filing happens elsewhere.

Verdict: GoodVat wins.

GoodVat: Applies IOSS rates across every channel and prepares and files the monthly return. GoodVat isn’t a registered intermediary, so non-EU sellers still need one.

Anrok: Not applicable. IOSS covers imported physical goods, which Anrok doesn’t support.

Verdict: GoodVat, if you ship physical goods. For pure SaaS this criterion doesn’t apply.

GoodVat: Union and Non-Union OSS, with registration, calculation and quarterly filing.

Anrok: A core strength for digital services. Anrok applies place-of-supply rules using the EU’s two-evidence rule (billing address, IP, bank country), tracks thresholds and produces reports ready for OSS filing. It doesn’t file.

Verdict: Anrok has the more rigorous digital-services evidence trail. GoodVat files the return, which Anrok doesn’t.

GoodVat: Nexus tracking in every state, rooftop-level calculation, marketplace-facilitator awareness and state filing.

Anrok: Strong, with specialist knowledge of SaaS taxability. Anrok knows where SaaS is taxable, where it’s exempt, and how B2B and B2C treatment differs. It doesn’t file.

Verdict: Anrok is more precise on software-specific taxability. GoodVat is more precise on location and actually files.

GoodVat: Real-time calculation for one-time and subscription sales through the API or store and payment integrations, with VAT number checks and reverse charge.

Anrok: Works at the billing layer. It calculates tax at subscription creation, renewal, upgrade, proration and refund inside Stripe Billing, Chargebee, Recurly and Zuora. It doesn’t cover physical goods.

Verdict: Anrok wins for complex subscription lifecycles. GoodVat wins for mixed catalogues and one-time sales.

GoodVat:

  • E-commerce and marketplaces: Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Amazon FBA, Etsy
  • Payments: Stripe, Square, Adyen, PayPal, Braintree, Amazon Pay, GoCardless, Mollie, Checkout.com, Razorpay
  • Accounting: Xero, QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, Zoho Books

Anrok:

  • Billing: Stripe Billing, Chargebee, Recurly, Zuora
  • CRM and CPQ: Salesforce CPQ, HubSpot
  • Accounting: NetSuite, QuickBooks Online
  • Shopify, WooCommerce: not supported

Verdict: Different buyers. Anrok fits the SaaS finance stack. GoodVat fits commerce and payments.

GoodVat: Flat monthly plans starting at $20/month. Registration and filing are quoted per jurisdiction.

Anrok: Quote-based, typically $500+/month, rising with volume and jurisdictions.

Verdict: GoodVat is cheaper to start with, and its price includes filing.

GoodVat: An onboarding call, after which GoodVat configures the account with you.

Anrok: Moderate, with guided implementation: billing connection, product categorisation and evidence collection setup.

Verdict: Similar. Both are sales-led and involve a guided setup.

GoodVat: A per-calculation audit log with the rule, rate and jurisdiction, plus filed returns.

Anrok: Audit trails built around place-of-supply evidence for each customer and transaction.

Verdict: Anrok’s digital-services evidence trail is best in class. GoodVat’s audit log covers every channel and continues through to the filed return.

GoodVat: Registration, calculation, invoicing and filing in 190 countries and 14,000+ jurisdictions. E-invoicing is on the roadmap.

Anrok: Built into the SaaS finance stack, with GST coverage in Australia, Canada and Singapore and reverse charge at scale.

Verdict: GoodVat covers more of the compliance cycle. Anrok fits more deeply into SaaS revenue operations.

GoodVat: Onboarding call, then human tax experts over email, chat and Slack.

Anrok: Account management with real SaaS tax expertise and consistently good reviews.

Verdict: Both are human-led. Anrok’s team knows subscription edge cases especially well.

Beyond Sellers: White-Label Tax for Platforms

Section titled “Beyond Sellers: White-Label Tax for Platforms”

GoodVat also sells its engine as a white-label API:

  • Online marketplaces: marketplace facilitator and deemed-supplier compliance, plus tax as a feature for every seller.
  • Payment processors: PSPs such as Adyen, along with acquirers and PayFacs, can launch a branded tax product with calculation, invoicing and filing.
  • Merchant of Record platforms: MoRs expanding into new countries get calculation, registration and filing infrastructure.

Anrok is sold to SaaS companies to manage their own tax. It isn’t offered as white-label infrastructure for platforms.

Choose GoodVat if:

  • You sell physical goods, or a mix of physical and digital
  • You want returns filed for you
  • You sell through stores, marketplaces or several payment processors
  • You’re a marketplace, PSP or MoR that needs white-label tax

Choose Anrok if:

  • You’re a pure SaaS business billing through Chargebee, Recurly, Zuora or Stripe Billing
  • SaaS taxability across US states is your main risk
  • You need an EU digital-services evidence trail that will stand up in an audit
  • You already have filing covered through an accountant or partner

Neither if:

  • You’re outside the EU and need an IOSS intermediary. Use EAS Project, SimplyVAT or Taxually
