Registration
Sales tax and VAT registration, handled by local accountants.
When GoodVat shows you need to register, our network of local accountants files the application with each tax authority, appoints a fiscal representative where one is required, and sets your account up to start collecting the day you are approved.

What it does
Registered where you need to be, and nowhere you don’t
Registering too late costs back tax and penalties; registering too early adds filings you didn’t need. GoodVat’s monitoring tells you which, and our accountants handle the rest.
US sales tax permits
State registrations as you reach nexus, including the documents and identifiers each state asks for.
UK VAT
Registration with HMRC for UK businesses over £90,000 and for overseas sellers from their first UK sale.
EU OSS and IOSS
One-Stop Shop registration for cross-border EU sales, and IOSS with an EU intermediary for imports up to €150.
Local VAT registrations
Registrations in individual EU countries when you hold stock there, including Pan-European FBA.
Fiscal representatives
Appointed in countries that require one for non-resident businesses.
EORI and customs IDs
EORI numbers for importing goods into the UK and EU.
How it works

Frequently asked questions
When do I need to register for sales tax or VAT?
In the US, once your sales into a state pass its economic nexus threshold, or as soon as you have a physical presence there. In the UK, UK businesses register once taxable turnover passes £90,000 in a rolling 12 months, while overseas sellers register from their first UK sale. GoodVat’s monitoring tells you which applies to you.
How much does registration cost?
Registration is carried out by our local accountants and priced per country, because the work differs from one authority to the next. You get a fixed quote before anything starts. It is separate from your GoodVat plan.
How long does registration take?
It varies by authority. Many US states issue permits within days; VAT registrations in the UK and EU can take several weeks, longer where a fiscal representative is needed. Your accountant gives you an estimate with the quote.
What is the difference between OSS and IOSS?
The One-Stop Shop (OSS) lets you report VAT on cross-border sales to EU consumers in one quarterly return instead of registering in each country. The Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS) covers goods imported into the EU in consignments worth up to €150, so VAT is charged at checkout instead of on delivery. Non-EU sellers need an EU intermediary for IOSS.
Can I register myself and still use GoodVat?
Yes. Add your existing registration numbers and GoodVat starts charging and reporting tax for them straight away.
